• POLYMER TIP:  The secret to the explosive terminal performance of the V-Max® is a hollow cavity resting between the tip’s shaft and the body of the bullet. Upon impact, the hard shaft builds up speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the entire package to rapidly expand to the point of violent fragmentation, even at low terminal velocities.
• HIGHER BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT:  Hornady® combines the sharp, pointed polymer tip with the most aerodynamic profile for a high ballistic coefficient. The V-MAX® profile also provides the maximum bearing surface for added in-flight stability.
• SWAGED LEAD CORE:  The swaging process allows precise formation of the core up and around the tip, with a cavity under the tip’s stem. This allows the tip to build up energy before smashing into the core, causing dramatic fragmentation of the core and jacket.

The thin-plated full metal jacket offered by other manufacturers is easily distorted and often breaks or separates when the bullet impacts the target. The Hornady AMP bullet jacket features virtually zero tolerance for concentricity and near-zero wall thickness variation, punching through targets without deforming or breaking. RUGGED AMP® BULLET JACKET: Hornady Traditional and FMJ bullets are built with a rugged AMP® bullet jacket (Advanced Manufacturing Process) that clearly delivers better performance. VIRTUALLY ZERO VARIATION: The Hornady AMP bullet jacket features virtually zero tolerance for concentricity and near-zero wall thickness variation, punching through targets without deforming or breaking. These .224 diameter, 55 grain hollow point boat tail bullets have a serrated cannelure manufactured in the USA. These projectiles feature a copper drawn jacket and an all lead core in a boat tail profile.  These will make exceptional 5.56 Nato or .223 Remington loads for punching paper or varmint hunting.  The hollow point is small and the shape/profile is designed to feed reliably from a magazine in AR platforms.  The consistency in weight and diameter is exceptional and everything you would expect from Hornady.  The balance of quality and price in these projectiles make them a rock solid value no matter what your application.
