• POLYMER TIP:  The secret to the explosive terminal performance of the V-Max® is a hollow cavity resting between the tip’s shaft and the body of the bullet. Upon impact, the hard shaft builds up speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the entire package to rapidly expand to the point of violent fragmentation, even at low terminal velocities.
• HIGHER BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT:  Hornady® combines the sharp, pointed polymer tip with the most aerodynamic profile for a high ballistic coefficient. The V-MAX® profile also provides the maximum bearing surface for added in-flight stability.
• SWAGED LEAD CORE:  The swaging process allows precise formation of the core up and around the tip, with a cavity under the tip’s stem. This allows the tip to build up energy before smashing into the core, causing dramatic fragmentation of the core and jacket.

The thin-plated full metal jacket offered by other manufacturers is easily distorted and often breaks or separates when the bullet impacts the target. The Hornady AMP bullet jacket features virtually zero tolerance for concentricity and near-zero wall thickness variation, punching through targets without deforming or breaking. RUGGED AMP® BULLET JACKET: Hornady Traditional and FMJ bullets are built with a rugged AMP® bullet jacket (Advanced Manufacturing Process) that clearly delivers better performance. VIRTUALLY ZERO VARIATION: The Hornady AMP bullet jacket features virtually zero tolerance for concentricity and near-zero wall thickness variation, punching through targets without deforming or breaking. For rifles, the 52 grain #1410 bullet offers the shooter all the advantages of a boat tail design for 200 to 300 yard competition. In handguns chambering cartridges in 22 caliber, the 52 grain #1410 MatchKing® bullets often deliver superior accuracy in target competition. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications.  Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.
