Sierra is now offering our #2116 0.308” 115gr HP Varminter as a Green Box item. Originally offered in our 300 AAC Blackout #A2116-33 ammo, it has given proper feeding and functioning in all forms of firearms chambered for this cartridge.
From the 300AAC, it is perfectly suited for varmint use up to a medium sized game animal like whitetail with proper shot placements, but it can also be used from a wide variety of other cartridges. From a faster velocity cartridge, like a 308 Winchester, it would be better suited for varmints as it will give an exceptionally deadly expansion quality. It has a 0.267 G1 BC so it will travel well, even out to 250 yards and possibly more with the right zero.

ELD Match bullets are technologically advanced, enhanced accuracy target bullets featuring Heat Shield tips with the PERFECT MEPLAT (tip point) combined with numerous design features that deliver the highest-in-class ballistic coefficients, superior accuracy and extreme consistency from bullet-to-bullet, lot-to-lot. All manufacturers conventional polymer tips in high BC bullets melt in flight. Hornady® engineers discovered that conventional bullet tip materials in streamlined, high BC bullets melt and deform. Sierra – Tipped MatchKing 30cal (.308) 175 Grain Polymer Tip 100/Box

Sierra MatchKing rifle bullets are super-accurate bullets with very thin jackets and are held to exacting tolerances in diameter and weight. Their accuracy has been acclaimed worldwide and they have been used to win more target competitions than all target bullets from other manufacturers combined. Weight retention is held to within /- 0.3 grain. Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient. Due to the ballistic advantage that the tip provides, the 168 Tipped MatchKing (TMK) will stay supersonic at 1,000 yards at normal .308 Winchester velocities, unlike its untipped counterpart. The Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet is an excellent choice for Palma and F-Class (FTR / F Open) matches, as well as 3-Gun and various other competitions. Although the MatchKing line is recognized around the world for record setting accuracy, like their untipped counterparts, Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullets are not recommended for hunting anything larger than varmints.
