Nosler’s special lead-alloy, dual-core provides superior mushrooming characteristics at virtually all impact velocities. The fully tapered copper-alloy jacket ruptures instantly at the thin jacket mouth, yet the gradual thickening along the bullet’s axis controls expansion and curls the jacket uniformly outward at high and low velocities. Nosler’s integral partition supports the expanded mushroom and retains the rear lead-alloy core. The enclosed rear core retains more than two-thirds of the original bullet weight for deep penetration. Every Partition® bullet in the Nosler® line delivers optimum length, weight and ogive design for maximum in-flight and terminal performance.

The copper clings to the lead and the longer the bullets remain in the bath, the thicker the plating. The bullets are plated to the correct size and then taken out of the bath. Plated bullets are not as expensive as jacketed bullets. They are cleaner than lead but you'll want to stay away from magnum velocities when loading plated bullets. Hornady 30cal (.308) 150gr FMJBT Bullet 100/Box
Hornady’s Full Metal Jacket bullets replicate the bullets used in military “ball” ammunition. Full Metal Jacket Bullets are designed so that the bullet is completely encased in a hard metal jacket (except for the base), which is not intended to expand upon impact. The Boat Tail design is to provide a flatter trajectory and long range performance by raising the ballistic coefficient.
