Berry's Preferred Plated bullets begin as a swaged lead core. The swaged lead cores are tumbled in an electrically charged bath containing high-grade copper ingots. The copper clings to the lead and the longer the bullets remain in the bath, the thicker the plating. The bullets are plated to the correct size and then taken out of the bath. Plated bullets are not as expensive as jacketed bullets. They are cleaner than lead but you'll want to stay away from magnum velocities when loading plated bullets. Conventional polymer tips in high BC bullets melt in flight. Hornady engineers discovered that conventional bullet tip materials in streamlined, high BC bullets melt and deform. Although not a significant issue affecting moderate BC conventional tipped varmint and hunting bullets, aerodynamic heating causes BC reduction and degradation of accuracy, particularly at extended ranges (400 yds +). Hornady 30cal (.308) 150gr FMJBT Bullet 100/Box
Hornady’s Full Metal Jacket bullets replicate the bullets used in military “ball” ammunition. Full Metal Jacket Bullets are designed so that the bullet is completely encased in a hard metal jacket (except for the base), which is not intended to expand upon impact. The Boat Tail design is to provide a flatter trajectory and long range performance by raising the ballistic coefficient.
These bullets are primarily used for target shooting and plinking. Also ideal for varmint hunting, this bullet will deliver deep penetration and bone shattering results while also protecting the integrity of the pelt at the same time.
