ELD Match bullets are technologically advanced, enhanced accuracy target bullets featuring Heat Shield tips with the PERFECT MEPLAT (tip point) combined with numerous design features that deliver the highest-in-class ballistic coefficients, superior accuracy and extreme consistency from bullet-to-bullet, lot-to-lot. All manufacturers conventional polymer tips in high BC bullets melt in flight. Hornady® engineers discovered that conventional bullet tip materials in streamlined, high BC bullets melt and deform. Although not a significant issue affecting moderate BC conventional tipped varmint and hunting bullets, aerodynamic heating causes BC reduction and degradation of accuracy, particularly at extended ranges (400 yds ). To counter this effect, Hornady® identified a heat resistant polymer and developed the patent pending Heat Shield™ tip. This revolutionary new tip creates the perfect meplat (tip) with exceptionally consistent results from bullet-to-bullet and lot-to-lot. Superior accuracy and industry leading ballistic design has been achieved with the ELD Match bullet. An optimum secant ogive and boattail design along with the patent-pending Heat Shield tip produce a bullet with the highest possible ballistic coefficient in its class. Verified by Doppler Radar, ELD Match ballistic coefficients do not vary due to the integrity of the Heat Shield tip. AccuBond represents the most advanced bonded core bullet technology to date. Through a proprietary bonding process that eliminates voids in the bullet core, AccuBond marries Nosler’s traditional copper-alloy jacket with its special lead-alloy core. The result is a bullet that flies true, penetrates deep and retains its weight—and won’t cause extensive barrel fouling. Nosler AccuBond--the benchmark by which all bonded core bullets will be measured. The fully tapered, heavy alloy jacket is bonded to the special lead alloy core through a proprietary process designed for controlled expansion, deep penetration and 60-70% weight retention. Totally concentric, impact extruded jacket bonds completely to the bullet core for extreme accuracy. The AccuBond bullet's polymer tip resists deformation in the magazine and initiates expansion upon impact. Nosler Solid Base design jacket base acts as a platform for large diameter mushroom. Speer boat tail bullets are designed for long-range shooting. The tapered heel that gives the bullet type its name reduces aerodynamic drag for flatter trajectories. The boat tails are designed for more rapid expansion than Hot-Cor, so they are an excellent choice for whitetail deer and antelope. In the larger calibers, they are great for long shots at just about any non-dangerous game. Like Speer’s other hunting bullets, the jackets taper from a thicker shank section to a thin nose section to keep retained weights high.
