The industry’s leading varmint bullet with polymer tip and streamlined design results in flat trajectories. The concentricity of the match grade AMP® bullet jacket provides maximum accuracy at all ranges as well as explosive expansion, even at velocities as low as 1600 fps.

• POLYMER TIP:  The secret to the explosive terminal performance of the V-Max® is a hollow cavity resting between the tip’s shaft and the body of the bullet. Upon impact, the hard shaft builds up speed and energy before driving into the core, causing the entire package to rapidly expand to the point of violent fragmentation, even at low terminal velocities.
• HIGHER BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT:  Hornady® combines the sharp, pointed polymer tip with the most aerodynamic profile for a high ballistic coefficient. The V-MAX® profile also provides the maximum bearing surface for added in-flight stability.
• SWAGED LEAD CORE:  The swaging process allows precise formation of the core up and around the tip, with a cavity under the tip’s stem. This allows the tip to build up energy before smashing into the core, causing dramatic fragmentation of the core and jacket.
• PRECISE BOATTAIL & FLATBASE DESIGNS:  Utilizing the proper base design provides incredible in-flight stability for long-range shooting.

The thin-plated full metal jacket offered by other manufacturers is easily distorted and often breaks or separates when the bullet impacts the target. The Hornady AMP bullet jacket features virtually zero tolerance for concentricity and near-zero wall thickness variation, punching through targets without deforming or breaking. RUGGED AMP® BULLET JACKET: Hornady Traditional and FMJ bullets are built with a rugged AMP® bullet jacket (Advanced Manufacturing Process) that clearly delivers better performance. VIRTUALLY ZERO VARIATION: The Hornady AMP bullet jacket features virtually zero tolerance for concentricity and near-zero wall thickness variation, punching through targets without deforming or breaking. For rifles, this bullet was formed with a thin-walled jacket and soft core in the traditional roundnose shape for cartridges such as the 22 Hornet, 22 K-Hornet, or 218 Bee at muzzle velocities in the 2600 to 2900 fps range. The thin jacket and rounded nose of this bullet provides outstanding accuracy and effective expansion on small varmints at these modest velocities. The bullet is ideal for barrels with 1x16” twist rates and muzzle velocities that require a “short” bullet for proper stability. It is also effective in rifles firing medium-capacity cartridges, such as the 222 Remington and 223 Remington, for target and varmint shooting at muzzle velocities up to 3500 fps. For handguns, this bullet with a thin jacket and lots of exposed lead is ideal for all centerfire cartridges in 22 caliber. It will range in expansion from being a varmint bullet at Hornet handgun velocities to an explosive “Blitz” style Varminter at 223 Remington velocities. The bullets with a round nose shape are capable of outstanding accuracy, especially at short to moderate ranges. This is not loaded ammunition.
