The polymer tip of the V-Max bullet is the key to its dramatic accuracy and devastating expansion, even in long range, low-velocity situations. The tip raises the ballistic coefficient for improved velocity and flight stability, and on impact initiates bullet expansion. The copper jacket is designed to work with the tip to deliver incredible accuracy at long range, and it assists the V-Max’s dramatic expansion. The copper jacket provides the necessary bearing surface for maximum in-flight stability. The jacket is built to withstand the faster twist rates of many of today’s advanced varmint rifles. These .224 diameter, 55 grain hollow point boat tail bullets have a serrated cannelure manufactured in the USA. These projectiles feature a copper drawn jacket and an all lead core in a boat tail profile.  These will make exceptional 5.56 Nato or .223 Remington loads for punching paper or varmint hunting.  The hollow point is small and the shape/profile is designed to feed reliably from a magazine in AR platforms.  The consistency in weight and diameter is exceptional and everything you would expect from Hornady.  The balance of quality and price in these projectiles make them a rock solid value no matter what your application.

For rifles, this bullet was formed with a thin-walled jacket and soft core in the traditional roundnose shape for cartridges such as the 22 Hornet, 22 K-Hornet, or 218 Bee at muzzle velocities in the 2600 to 2900 fps range. The thin jacket and rounded nose of this bullet provides outstanding accuracy and effective expansion on small varmints at these modest velocities. The bullet is ideal for barrels with 1x16” twist rates and muzzle velocities that require a “short” bullet for proper stability. It is also effective in rifles firing medium-capacity cartridges, such as the 222 Remington and 223 Remington, for target and varmint shooting at muzzle velocities up to 3500 fps. For handguns, this bullet with a thin jacket and lots of exposed lead is ideal for all centerfire cartridges in 22 caliber. It will range in expansion from being a varmint bullet at Hornet handgun velocities to an explosive “Blitz” style Varminter at 223 Remington velocities. The bullets with a round nose shape are capable of outstanding accuracy, especially at short to moderate ranges. This is not loaded ammunition.
