The powder measure is case activated; it will only drop powder if a case is present. When a case is present the powder bar will travel it's full length until is flush with the body of the powder measure. This allows the powder bar to align with the powder funnel to drop the powder charge. The case activated feature saves you from messy spills while you setup your press or if for some reason a case is not present when you cycle the press.
The Dillon Precision Powder Measure uses an adjustable volumetric powder bar to regulate charge weights. This is accomplished by adjusting a screw on the end of the powder bar which in turn regulates the size of the volume into which the powder will drop. You must use a reliable scale to set the correct charge weight as you adjust the volume the powder bar will drop. Dillon Precision manufactures four types of powder bars:
Hornady – POWDER MEASURE PISTOL METERING INSERT L-N-L

The Hornady Lock-N-Load Handgun Metering Assembly is the perfect tool for the reloader looking to improve the function of their Hornady Lock-N-Load Powder Measure. The Handgun Metering Assembly features an adjustment lock ring, which allows settings to be locked in place permanently for a favorite load. The assembly is designed to throw charges of pistol powders between 0.5 to 17 grains.
Hornady – POWDER MEASURE STANDARD METERING INSERT L-N-L
The Hornady Lock-N-Load Powder Measure Standard Metering Assembly is the perfect tool for the reloader looking to improve the function of their Hornady Lock-N-Load Powder Measure. The Standard Metering Assembly features an adjustment lock ring, which allows settings to be locked in place permanently for a favorite load. Measures approximately 5 to 100 grains of typical rifle powder. Will not work with the Lock-N-Load Bench Rest or Black Powder Measurers. (Not compatible with the Bench Rest Grade or Black Powder Measure.)
LEE – LONG & Short CHARGING DIE kit

Lee Short and Long Charging Dies are included in this kit for use with the Auto-Disk, Pro Auto-Disk and Auto-Drum Powder Measure. Works with cases .860 to 2.620 inches long, and bullet diameters .223 and larger.
Works the same as the pistol Powder Through Expanding Die, except it does not expand the case mouth. Rifle case expansion is done in the Sizing die.
LEE – PRO AUTO-DISK POWDER MEASURE

The Lee Pro Auto-Disk powder measure is perfect for the high volume reloader utilizing a progressive reloading press. The innovative design will not cut powder and almost totally eliminates leakage, the large hopper with shut-off valve is attached with brass thumb nuts for the ultimate in disk changing convenience. The positive pull-back lever increases safety. Comes with four disks, swivel adapter and spring return lever with spring. Designed to be mounted on the Lee Pro-1000 and Loadmaster presses with Lee powder-through expander dies.
Lee Auto-Disk, Auto-Drum Rifle Powder Short Charging Die

The Lee Short Charging Die is for use with the Lee Auto-Disk, Pro Auto-Disk and Auto-Drum Powder Measure. Designed to work with cases .860 to 1.760 inches long (22 Hornet to 223 Rem), and bullet diameter .223 and larger due to powder bridging. The rifle charging die works the same as the pistol powder through expanding die, except it doesn't expand the case mouth. Rifle case expansion is done in the sizing die. For cases 1.760 to 2.620 inches long, use the long charging die. Steel die comes packaged in a plastic storage case.
